Mexico Hints U.S. Government Covering Up Kidnapping, Arrest of Drug Lord

Mexican authorities are insinuating that the U.S. government played a role in the alleged kidnapping of a top drug lord who was flown north of the border by his rivals and turned over to authorities. The allegations are part of an ongoing federal kidnapping and treason investigation undertaken by Mexican authorities following the arrest of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, one of the supreme leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Cruise Ship Employee Gets 30 Years for Filming Children with Hidden Cameras

A U.S. District Court judge sentenced a Philippine national to 30 years in federal prison for placing hidden cameras in cruise ship passenger bathrooms to film children. The United States Attorney’s office for the Southern District of Florida announced the sentencing on Wednesday of 34-year-old Arvin Joseph Mirasol for placing the hidden cameras since December 2023.

Mexican Activists Discover New Cartel Crematorium near Border with Texas

Authorities in the Mexican border state of Tamaulipas have confirmed the discovery of two separate locations used by cartel gunmen to kill and incinerate the remains of their victims. Cartel crematoriums and clandestine gravesites have become almost commonplace in various parts of Mexico as criminal organizations try to avoid attention by not leaving bodies behind. The disposal of remains also allows government officials to hide the levels of violence by filing most cases as missing persons instead of murders or kidnappings.

Texas Department of Public Safety rangers and troopers arrested a 20-year-old Honduran national on a warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 14. The man, recently added to Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List, was released by the Biden-Harris administration in 2021 on an order of recognizance.

Mexican Border State Hiding News of Raging Cartel Violence

Government officials in Mexico have been working to portray an image of peace in the border state of Tamaulipas by using doctored crime stats and making misleading statements to news outlets. In reality, several drug cartels have been waging fierce turf wars throughout the state. The violence rose exponentially in recent weeks as drug cartels have become more brazen.

Mexican Cops Find 22 Migrants in Abandoned Truck

Authorities in Mexico found 22 migrants who were abandoned by smugglers inside a truck that had a blown tire. The migrants did not have paperwork to be in the country and are believed to have been headed north to the U.S. border.

Mexican Government Lashes Out at U.S. Ambassador Over Judicial Reform “Interference”

Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced that his staff was sending a diplomatic notice complaining about the actions of U.S. Ambassador Ken Salazar by interfering in judicial reform. The reforms called for having judges in Mexico be elected rather than selected. The U.S. diplomat published a letter warning that the proposed judicial reform could damage the country’s democracy and hurt the commercial relationship between the two countries.

10.1 Million Border Encounters Under Biden-Harris, Says House Committee

A factsheet report released by the House Committee on Homeland Security Republicans this week highlighted the more than 170,000 nationwide migrant encounters in July. According to the committee factsheet released on Wednesday, the total of nationwide encounters under the Biden-Harris administration climbed to 10.1 million. That total did not include the roughly two million known got-aways recorded by CBP since the start of fiscal year 2021.

Mexican Governor Asks Warring Sinaloa Cartel Factions for Peace

The governor of the Mexican state of Sinaloa asked the various factions of the drug cartel that controls his state for peace. The request followed a series of killings tied to infighting within the criminal organization. The killings emerged after the apparent kidnapping and surrendering to U.S. authorities of Sinaloa Cartel leader Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada by the Chapitos faction of the organization.

Authorities in Mexico confirmed the disappearance of a U.S. citizen from Iowa who had been missing for several days after crossing the border. The disappearance comes at a time when government officials continue to claim that security conditions have been improving. However, criminal organizations like the Gulf Cartel can operate with almost complete impunity.

Mexican federal prosecutors announced that they had begun a treason investigation against various individuals who played a role in the controversial U.S. arrest of top Sinaloa Cartel Boss Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada. According to the cartel boss, the arrest came after individuals with the Chapitos faction of the cartel kidnapped him and turned him over to U.S. authorities at an airport near El Paso.

A former Texas peace officer will spend more than ten years in prison for using his position to smuggle drugs and launder money. The former cop tried to claim that he had been doing undercover work while using his police vehicle to move drug loads across state lines, federal prosecutors said.

Three Mexican nationals from the state of Coahuila crossed the Rio Grande and made their way north into Texas just north of the small border town of Quemado. After the migrants crossed U.S. Highway 277 between Eagle Pass and Del Rio, they tripped a surveillance camera, sending an alert to Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, Texas National Guard soldiers, and U.S. Border Patrol agents. The manhunt was underway.
